Competitive Scholarship Portfolio 2013

This project includes 10 pieces from my Fall 2012 semester. The main feature of this portfolio are my ink blot drawings: I’ve created a series of homemade Rorschach tests. Rorschach tests are a tool used by a psychiatrist to determine the mental state of a patient. Nobody can see exactly what the patient sees in the test—all they can do is try their best to explain it. I intend to take away this understanding gap in terms of what I see in an inkblot and the audience’s view by drawing exactly what I see upon my first reaction to the splatters.

Blots

My pride and joy of this semester: I created my own Rorschach tests by making my own ink blots. By taking the test, you can describe what you see to a listener but they will never be able to view every single detail just by describing it verbally. Instead, I've chosen to illustrate what I saw in them so my audience can read it the same way that I do.
